Joy, your poem definitely connects with me. Yesterday, while traveling back from a state conference, I spotted a beautiful hawk diving through the sky. I supposed it to be his solitary journey until later I saw another group of them. While I live in New York, your red hawk connects with my black ones in his purposeful pursuit. Thanks for sharing. Exactly. It isn't required, but since Kennedy started it with Robert Frost, it has become a tradition. And in times of stress people turn to poetry, so I hope it is something that can start the healing.
