Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

Summer Nights

Summer evening
air starting to cool
people come out
sit/stand at the curb
watch children
play stick ball
and talk story.

Talk Story is a Hawaiian term meaning to chat with one another.  When the weather is nice, neighbors often meet to chat in the street.  Two people start chatting and then another joins in, and another and soon there are half a dozen folks just catching up on neighborhood gossip.  If the road, street or avenue where you live could talk, what would it tell you about your neighborhood?  Try writing about that today.  Have fun.

Today I'll be happier than an egret having lunch on a cow's back.

  1. I'm sure you have many stories to share about your latest adventures. Enjoy the fellowship and stories with those you know and love.

I love the cow and egret image!

    1. Linda, did you know that Sunday is Dad's Day in Australia? When I was shopping in Melbourne there were lots of displays of things to get dad,. It took me awhile to figure out, that like Mothering Sunday, Dad's Day is different than in the US.
