Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

Herstory in an acrostic

So, here is another one, I had fun doing the research.

HEROINE

Witch? Enchantress?

Stop to consider
that she was

Just 17, the Maid
of Orleans, she was
attired in white armor
nudged by heavenly voices, she

ordered her sword from St. Catherine, the rust
fell away from its five emblazoned crosses.

Accompanied by her mother
                  and brothers, she offered
reverence to King Charles, this virgin
covered in saintly blood.

She foresaw her death--
a green girl like white powder
smoking in fire.
