Welcome
This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

COCONUTS
Coconuts growing high
in the palm tree.
Swaying in the wind,
bending wild and free.
Then all the sudden
an eerie sound
THUNK,
THUNK,
THUNK!
Coconuts hit the ground.
If you could visit any place in the United States, where would you go? Can you write a poem about your place? Have fun writing.

Joy,
ReplyDeleteKind of sad that the coconuts are no longer free to sway in the breeze. I'm sure they'll be enjoyed by someone who gathers them. I liked the sound effects.
Onomatopoeia is a poet's friend. It often can lift a mundane poem to an interesting level. Sound is the second most often thing writers write about.
