This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

I have a little monster
who is helpful as can be.
Every where I travel
He is sure to follow me.

When I pick up my toys
and put them on the shelf,
he will always knock them off,
the helpful impish elf.

And when I tidy dresser drawers
before I push them in,
he strews the contents all around
and leaves them out again.

He steals homework from my backpack.
He pulls hangars from the closet rack.
He knocks down towers that I stack
I wish he'd leave and not come back.

This thug, this thief, this gangster,
my impish elfish, monster prankster.

  1. Oops, when I posted this poem my blog account immediately took me to a listing of all my blog posts and it showed the poem for yesterday (2/28/2015) as a draft. So evidently I forgot to hit the publish button. So if you'll page to a newer poem, you'll get yesterday's post. Sorry about that. Would you believe I have over 1400 blog posts.

  2. Did that monster have anything to do with this mix up?

Over 1400 posts! Wow, sounds like something to celebrate. Now where did that monster hide the chocolate?
