Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

Rain

It rained again this morning
and now it has stopped.
But the rain keeps coming
with its drop, drip, drop.

Tiny pearls of moisture
creep the palm fronds vein
gathers at  the tip
then drops the jewel again.

I got home from my trip to Australia yesterday and have been trying to catch up since then.  I've just about got my laundry done.  The suitcases are empty.  Tomorrow I'll put them away in the garage.

What are you happy about today?  Can you write about what makes you happy today?

Today I'll be happier than a beach ball bouncing in the sand.

  1. Welcome home, world traveler! Love the reference in this poem of "pearls" and "jewels" with rain - rain IS precious. =)

  2. Hey Bridget. Thanks for leaving a comment. I can't believe my hiatus lasted so long. I need to get back to work. I'm looking forward to seeing you at Poetry Camp.

  3. Lovely poem. I still have the Rain postcard posted on my refrigerator that you sent me back in May. You have such a kind, sweet nature. No wonder your name is Joy!

    1. I do enjoy nature and all the changes it makes. I discovered in my travels that I am just a country girl. I didn't like all the crowds and tall buildings in the city. The best times I had were in the parks.

    2. Sometimes it takes a trip away from home to discover who we are.
