LUCKY ME!
I found a penny
walking to school.
I felt so lucky.
I felt so cool.
There's just one problem,
don't know what to do.
Does this penny
belong to you?
I did find a penny on my morning walk and started composing this poem. I had fun with the idea of the phrase "walking to school" modifying the penny and not the "I." If those two phrases are reversed in order it makes more sense. Pardon my pun.
Always, when I find money, I think of the person who lost the money. Was the money needed? Will it be missed?
Did you ever lose money? What is something else you lost or misplaced? Can you write a poem about that today? Or would you like to write a poem about something you found? Have fun writing.

haiku
a grasshopper leaps
on the gravel road again
lost in the distance
It has been a good week for finding money on my walks. On four of my morning walks I've found coins. This morning I found a bright copper penny. Only four more pennies and I will have a quarter. Can you figure out what coins I found on the other three mornings?
I always feel like it is a lucky day when I find money. Can you write a poem today about what makes a lucky day for you?

PROGRESSIVE POEM
Each day during the month of April I will add a line to this poem.
WHAT IS POETRY?
Poets are like baseball pitchers. Both have their moments. The intervals are the tough things. --Robert Frost

It is finding the truth, no need to lie.
It's munching on watermelon and letting seeds fly.
It's a letter that comes with a card in the mail.
It's the lacy silver threads left by a garden snail.
It's daffodil trumpets covering the hill.
It's a deer at the creek, drinking her fill.
It's giggling and laughing and being absurd.
It's reading a haiku and feeling each word.
It's a dragon who blows flames, loud and hardy.
It's fairies in the garden having a tea party.
It's the sound of a truck shifting its gears.
It's the feel of two soft puppy dog ears.
It's a bright sun rise and glowing moon shine.
It's a Carolina wren singing in a Lob-lolly pine.
It's a snowman rolled on a cold winter morn.
It's crows calling from tall tasseled corn.
It's the whisper of hummingbird wings in the air.
It's plaits and curls tied with bows in my hair.
It's spying a bird feeding her young.
It's pink cotton candy that melts on your tongue.
It's watching black ants as they march by.
It's corn on the cob for the Fourth of July.
It's a bumble bee tumbling inside a rose.
It's dandelion puffs tickling my nose.
It's a penny tossed in a wishing well.
Happy Sunday. Have you got something planned for today to feed your poetry well? What are you doing that might make a great topic for a poem? Have a great day. Are you planning something special to celebrate Earth Day tomorrow?
