Hammer Symphony

My neighbor hammers
tap, TAP, tap.
He's hanging hooks
for Christmas lights
to his house eaves.

A Gila Woodpecker
pauses
on the Mesquite tree,
filled with curiosity.

Together they make
a hammered symphony
tap, TAP, tap,
tap, TAP, tap.

A Gila Woodpecker is a pretty bird with a checkered tuxedo coat and a small red beret for a hat.  They make holes in the Saguaros so other birds can make homes inside the cacti.   To make this music took two voices--my neighbor's hammer and the Gila Woodpecker.
Your poetry challenge for today is to write a poem about something that takes two (or more) to get it done.  In your poem let us know who they are and what each needs to do.  Have fun writing.

A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.  Roald Dahl

CELEBRATE!

Celebrate,
let's dance!
Let your toes
tap, tap, tap.
Let your hands
clap, clap, clap.
Let your body sway.
Today is a special day.
Celebrate me!
Celebrate you!
Celebrate all the things
we can do.

What is one thing you can do?  Can you write a poem today about the specialness of you?  Have fun writing your own poem.

PLAYING CHEEKS

I can fill
my cheeks
with air
then I tap
my fingers
there.
Sound comes out
a burst of shout.
Sounds like a trumpet,
sounds like a drum.
Funny cheek
playing,
here I come.

Have you ever tried to play your cheeks like a musical instrument?  I had a lot of fun making funny noises while I tried to write this poem.  Good thing I was alone and no one could hear me.
Your challenge for today is to write your own poem about a sound.  Have fun writing.

The Roadrunner

The roadrunner
comes tap, tap, tapping
at my window today.

He's tap, tap, tapping
for me
to come and play.

The roadrunner
is tap, tap, tapping
before he runs away.

Roadrunners are funny, curious birds.  this on likes peeking in my bathroom window.  And when he is there, he wants to be sure he is noticed.  Hence the loud tapping on the window.  Their feet are interesting too.  There are four toes, two point forward, two back.  This helps the roadrunner get better traction when he runs.  What is your favorite bird? Can you write a poem about that bird today?
