Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

small green gecko
sits in the sun
changing spots

Some days I feel like my blog is a big monster taking bites out of me.  Each day it eats a little more.  This is a sign I need to do more taking in than giving out.  It is a signal I need to do more reading for a while and less writing.  If I don't do this, I find my writing becomes stale and I feel uninspired.  So your prompt for today is to find a favorite poetry book and spend some time reading poetry, or find a biography about a poet.  Enjoy having a reading day.

  1. Joy,
You deserve a break. Read and enjoy your nature watching. By the way, if the gecko wasn't changing spots, could he be changing conversations non-stop? If so, what would he describe/discuss as he sits in the sun?

  2. That is so true, Joy. I've not found many new poetry books to read. There are some coming out and in the meantime I have to hunt better for those I haven't read yet.

    1. Catherine, do you have suggestions for poetry books I should be reading? Especially those on craft? Thanks for your comment.
