Fairy Wings
There are fairies in my garden,
and I even have the proof.
I stopped to pick a flower
and then I heard a p o o f.
There beneath the flower--
the strangest of things,
a tiny, little fairy
had left her fairy wings.
If you find fairy wings in your garden, you get to make a wish. What would you wish for? Can you write a poem about wishes, or making a wish? Have fun writing.
You have the power to make this an amazing day.

Fairy Dreams
A fairy comes to visit
me in my dream
together we eat
berries with cream.
We sail upon
a vanilla lake,
our raft is made
of chocolate cake.
Together we have
so much fun at play
as we sing and dance
the night away.
What do you dream about at night? Can you write your own poem about one of your dreams? Have fun writing.
Today is Poetry Friday. You can find more poetry at Books 4 Learning. Enjoy the round up.
May all your dreams be big and happy.

SLEEP,
Sleep,
the gift of fairies,
let's us dream,
gives us melodies,
tells us stories,
writes our poems.
Even just a word
is a small hope
for our future.
If you had a dream, what would it be? Can you write a poem today about your dream? Have fun dreaming.

WOOD SORREL FAIRY
A fairy sitting
among the wood sorrel.
Pale purple flowers
grow under the trees.
It's shady as she
watches a squirrel
dash through the sorrel
making a breeze.
I'm still imagining what it would be like to have a pocket fairy. I could send her off to do errands for me. To find things out for me, to check on my friends. If you had a small fairy what would you do with him or her? Can you write a poem about that? Have fun with your imagination.

The Fairy and the Imp
A little fairy
and a tiny imp
went down to the sea
and dined with shrimps.
They supped with scallops
and some lobster too.
Then went for a ride
o're the ocean blue.
The fairy paddled
over the foam,
and the tiny imp steered
their boat home.
There is a real world and a world of magic. I think I like the fun of visiting with magic. How about you? So, here is your challenge for today. Can you write a poem about the world of magic? Have fun writing.

Fairy Ride
A fairy rode
on a rabbit's back,
hopped from here
to the top of Mt. Sac.
They told stories
and sang
along the way.
Yippie-I-O
Kai-Ay.
Hurr-ay.
There were several rabbits out this morning on my walk. Would you believe it was already 86 degrees and it wasn't even 7 o'clock yet. I thought I'd forgotten the first of the month ritual to turn around three times and say, "rabbit, rabbit, rabbit."
Do you know that silly thing for having good luck during the month? Do you know other rituals or superstitions? Can you write a poem about that today?

HOW TO MAKE A FAIRY GARDEN
Look for a quiet spot
under the canopy of a tall tree.
If there are dead leaves
that's good, if there is moss
in the shade it is even better.
Scatter stones
to shape a walkway.
Carve a log into a house.
Use two rocks to make a bench,
others for some chairs.
Add a pine cone or dried mushroom
for a table.
Use sticks to form a fence.
Do you want to dig a wee well?
Then put out a sign saying
Fairies Welcome
and hope one takes up residence.
Plant seeds of happiness
and watch your garden bloom.
I'm being fanciful and I invite you to join me. This is a "how to" poem that gives directions. Can you write your own "how to" poem today? Perhaps you'd like to write about how to catch a fairy. Have fun.
Let your imagination soar.

Dragonfly Tea Party
This poem is for the extraordinary children's poet David Harrison, who had a dragonfly come visit him yesterday. (You can see a picture of the dragonfly by clicking your cursor over his name.)
I'm having so much fun with the thought of being a Dragonfly Princess that
I want to get out my colored pencils to draw a picture to go with my poem. Do you have a poem (one of your own or someone else's) you'd like to draw a picture for? OK, so today let's try drawing instead of writing. Have fun. This fairy princess loves the color pink. Happy Saturday.
I wish I were a princess.
I'd fly with fairy wings.
I'd live within the garden
to see what summer brings.
I'd have a mushroom
for my table
and a toadstool
for my seat,
and there I'd dine
on lovely food
with lots of tasty treats.
When you come to visit
we'll have lots of food to eat.
We'll dine on little fairy cakes
and other yummy sweets.
We will drink the dew drops
and snail shell cups of tea
when you come into the garden
for our dragonfly party.
