I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing
in this strong breeze.
It's raising the pollen
and my allergies.
What is something that makes you sneeze or gives you hiccups? Can you write a poem about that today? Have fun writing.
Welcome
This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

SPRING
ah-ah-Choo!
Pardon my sneeze.
ah-Ah-CHoo!
It's not a cold.
It's allergies.
ah-ah-Choo!
Will you hand me
a tissue, please?
Ah-Ah-CHOO!
I'm trying hard
to remember
to use my sleeve.
AH-AH-CHOO!
When I was a little girl we carried handkerchiefs. When we got a little older we learned how to embroider our hankies. We did not learn how to sneeze into our elbow. But then, I always had a funny, little kitten sneeze. Can you write a poem today with the word sneeze in it?

Keeping Healthy
I want to stay healthy
so here's what I do--
each year I get
a shot for the flu.
I wash my hands
frequently
sing Happy Birthday
twice, to keep germ free.
I use my elbow
when I sneeze,
exercise, sleep
and eat healthy.
I'm doing everything
I know how to do.
I hope you stay
healthy too.
Happy Saturday. What are doing today for fun? Can you write a poem about it?

WILIFORD MOUSE
Wiliford Mouse
liked to spend hours
sitting in the garden
smelling the flowers.
This little mouse
was quite a hoot
sniffing the pollen
with his yellow snoot.
He'd taste the petals,
lap up the dew
but when the cat
came stalking through
Wiliford tried hiding
under the pansies
but he couldn't help it
young Wiliford sneezed.
AH AH CHOOOOO!
Hey, Happy Thursday. I want to thank you for stopping by and reading my poem. I've used a slip rhyme, or assonance rhyme in the last stanza. If you can think of a flower that rhymes perfectly with sneezed, please let me know. That last stanza still needs work, but I'll get to it.
