I'm Sorry

I'm sorry, I almost
Forgot my chores today.
I was busy writing
And didn't take time to play.

I love writing poetry.  I especially love writing poems for children.  It seems like play to me.  So sometimes when I get really busy, I forget that I need time to play too .  What did you do today?  Can you write a poem about what you did or saw?

ABECEDARIAN GAMES

Acted atrocious, sent to
Bed without dinner
Couldn't find comfort in my bed covers
Dreamed I was locked in a toy store at
Exactly midnight
Fumbled with the key I was
Going to unlock the door.
Hung around waiting,
I thought others were coming to play.
Just as I was about to give up a
Kangaroo hopped by.
"Let's play
Monopoly," I said.
Now there's an idea," said Kangaroo. I got all the Get
Out of Jail Free Cards. I
Purchased hotels and wouldn't
Quit until I
Ran out of money. I
Suggested we play Sorry or Scrabble.
"Thanks, not for me," said the Kangaroo,
"Unless I get to deal."
"Very well," I replied.  "Let's play
War."  But the Kangaroo
X-ed me out and left me for
Yat-
Zi.

As you can see, I'm still playing with abecedarians.  Would you like to try writing your own abecedarian?

I'm late

I'm late, I'm late!
Oh, what can I say?
I thought I might take
a holiday. (I'm sorry.)

I didn't write a poem.
Oh, what should I do?
I don't want to disappoint
me and all my friends too.

Oh look, oh look.
I know what I'll do.
This is the poem,
I've written for you.

Gosh, I'm sorry I'm so late today.  Can I say it is Saturday and life got in the way?
I want to share that Jone MacCulloch has interviewed me on her blog and today has a poem of mine posted  here   If you back up to Wednesday on her blog you'll see a picture of me when I was in grade school.  The poem she has posted is my FISH from the POETRY FRIDAY ANTHOLOGY.  Thank you Jone and I hope you are doing better after your accident.  I wish you a speedy recovery.
Your challenge for today is to write an apology poem from the point of view of an insect or animal.  Your dog might apologize for eating your shoe (or your homework), a mosquito might apologize for biting you.  What other possibilities can you think of?  Have fun.
