GIRL WITH LEGOS

A girl with Legos®

is an amazing thing.

She can build

almost anything.

A rocket,

a sailing ship,

a backyard swing.

A hospital,

a fire engine

or a castle

for a king.

Happy Sunday.  Life is getting crazy here. How would you define a crazy life?
How about trying to write a poem today on what a crazy life means to you?  Have a calm day writing today.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day, Dad.
You're my hero and I'm glad
when you take me to the park
and push my swing until dark.

I like when we see parades
and listen to the marching band.
I'm glad today is Father's Day.
I think my dad is grand.

Did you write a poem for your dad today?  Did you do something to honor the men in your life?  Try writing a poem about what you did today.  Have fun writing.  Happy Sunday.

SWEET

With each swing

of the bat

the rope pulls

the piƱata sways

swish

       swish

              THWACK

s       r       f       i       my
w     a       a      n
e      i        l       t       h

Now, all I have to do is cross my fingers, say a few magical words and hope that the formatting that I see on this poem holds for you.  But, I know if you are reading this on your cell phone it is going to look wacky.  Such is the story of my life.  I know what I want but getting technology to cooperate with me is often difficult.

So, if it doesn't look right, try this:

With each swing of the bat
the rope pulls
the pinata sways
swish, swish, THWACK,
sweets fall into my hand.

Yes, this may be easier to read, but it doesn't capture the fun of the candy dropping down into waiting hands.  So, I'd better work on that illustration, quick.

Have a great Monday.  Can you write your own poem about candy today?  Have fun.

Starlight

Stars sing
to me
twinkle,
glint, twink,
wink,
shine bright
sing sweet
smile, I want
to swing
in bare feet
and to sing too.

This little poem uses a lot of assonance.  Look at how many times you can find the word "in" in this poem.
So here is a wild challenge for today's poem.  Can you write a poem in 12 lines or less using the word "out" hidden your poem as many times as possible?  Oh this should be fun.  I'm already thinking about the things I can write.
