Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

I'm Out Today

I'm going to the book fair today.
I hope the rain won't keep folks away.
I'm going off, I'm going to play
When I'm at the book fair today.

Gotta run.  I'm late.  Having fun writing your poem today.  Thank you to everyone who left poems yesterday.  "I'll catch up soon," said the tomato.

  2. Oh, Linda. Yes, I'm having delightful fun. the Tucson Festival of Books is the 4th largest in the US, but it is the largest for children's books. I met poet Joyce Sidman and heard her talk about where her inspiration comes from. I got to hear Adam Rex, Peter Brown and Lester Laminack (he's from Carolinas) talk about using animals for characters in picture books. Jerry Pinkney did a presentation on his water color techniques. And I was also thrilled to meet Guadalupe Garcia McCall, who is in the Poetry Friday Anthology for Middle School.Oh, and I sat in on a panel discussion by Bruce Covillle, Jennifer A. Nielson and C. J. Hill on Writing worlds of Fantasy, Dragons, Monsters and False Princes. It was a great day. and can yyou believe all of these presentations are free and open to the public--as the phrase goes.
