I'M HAPPY

copyright 2014, Joy Acey

There's moon glow inside me.
I'm dancing on air.
Where are my friends?
Will you join me there?

In My Daily Post today, Ben Huberman included a quote from Allen Ginsberg, "Follow your inner moonlight, don't hide the madness."
I loved the idea of having moonlight inside my body and so I wrote this poem.  But then I got to thinking about other things that make me happy, that symbolize happiness to me.

There's cotton candy inside me.
I'm feeling so sweet.
I smile,
     say HELLO,
to each friend I meet.

There's bubbles inside me.
I'm feeling so light.
My feet, they are dancing.
I feel their delight.

There's a circus inside me.
I feel like the show.
There are lions and tigers
to dance where I go.

OK.  So now it is your turn.  What are some things that make you happy?  Chocolate, swimming, sunshine, parties?  How would it make you feel?

So try the format and see what you come up with:

There's a _____________________________ inside me.

I feel like____________________________________.

Flea Circus

copyright 2014, Joy Acey

The circus is here
and I'm all agog
to see the clowns
and the flying trapeze.

The world's largest circus
made up of fleas
and they're all performing
on my poor dog.

If you could join the circus, what would you do?  Water elephants, tame lions, juggle?  Would you be a clown, an aerialist, a bareback rider or the ring master?  Can you try writing your own circus poem today?  Have fun.

Carl the Clown

Carl the Clown
wanders through town
carrying his ladder around.
He uses his ladder
to climb from the ground.
UP, UP, to the top he bounds.

Once he is there,
he wobbles and wiggles.
His tummy turns over
it bobbles and jiggles.

             Carl leans left.

                                        Carl leans right.

He could be at the top
leaning all night.

      Except,
Carl the clown
knows how to climb down
and take his ladder home.

Thanks to my sister Clo Ann, who said "Ladder," when I told her I didn't know what I was going to write about for today.  Then she sweetly asked, "Does that grab you?"
I told her it actually did because I couldn't remember a poem with ladder, except for Horton the Elephant who had a ladder to prop up Maizie's tree with her nest.
So, here is the poem I came up with for LADDER.  Don't ask me where Carl the Clown came from.  I don't know, he was just there when I needed him.  Have you ever seen the circus act with a clown that balances on a ladder?  Can you write your own circus poem today?  Have a fun Saturday.
Hopefully, I'll have some really good news to share with you tomorrow.
