FAVORITE FOOD

"Moo," said Cow,
"this tastes like, WOW!"
"Oink, oink," said Pig,
"this pie I dig."
Tomato said, "Squish."
"Pizza is our favorite dish."

What is your favorite food?  Can you write a poem about the foods you like to eat today?  This refrain started out as a quatrain, with lines 2 and 4 missing.  but as I worked on the poem, I was having fun, so I switched it to couplets.  I called it a refrain because I'm thinking this poem is going to work its way into a rhyming picture book.  Can you figure out why a cow, a pig, and a tomato are the main characters of this poem?

A children's poem makes you tap your toes and snap your fingers.

ANOTHER WISH

I wish I were a butterfly
a flitting through the sky,
then I would come to visit you
and make your dreams come true.

Hey, I've changed the rhyming pattern.  This quatrain verse is written in couplets.  I hope you are having a great Sunday.  Can you find time to write a couplet today?  How about something with wishes or dreams?  Think big and have fun writing.  Happy poetry.

DISAPPEARING ACT

Slowly, I am starting to disappear.
I'm getting smaller every day.
I've lost my fingers and my toes, my dear.
Soon all you'll see, is a sun ray.

If you could disappear like Harry Potter with an invisibility cloak, what would you do? Can you write a poem about that today?

So sorry I'm late, I had internet problems.  But it looks like I've got that fixed now so we should get back on track shortly.  In the meantime--Write On!  Keep the passion for poetry alive.

Dream Poem

There is a river
I skate upon
in my dreams
from dusk until dawn.

Oh the adventures,
skating near and far
and when I'm tired
I rest on a star.

What do you dream about? Your dreams can take you anywhere.  Can you write your own dream poem today?  Make it fun.

Who is Happy?

The cats jump for joy.
The dogs leap with glee.
Everyone is happy.
What can
the excitement
be?

What gets you excited?  Can you write a poem about excitement today? Answer the question of this poem to make the next verse.  What are you passionate about?  Do have fun writing your poem.  Happy Tuesday.

Who Is Home?

(original art by Joy Acey, all rights reserved)

When eating an apple
try not to squirm
if the bite you have taken
is home for a worm.

Gosh, this is the second worm poem I've written in a week.  Can you write your own poem about a creature that lives under ground?  Have fun.
