Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

DING-A-LING

My telephone rings
ting-a-ling
ting-a-ling.

Should I stop sleeping
or let it ring?
I lift the phone
to hear
my brother sing:

Happy Saturday to you,
Happy Saturday to you
Happy Saturday, Happy Saturday
Oh what shall we do?

Sometimes he thinks
I'm a real
ding-a-ling.

Don't ask me why, but my family has the habit of singing our messages when we get the answering machine.  Do you do silly things like that?  Can you write a poem about one of the silly things your family does?  Do you make weird sandwiches? Does Mom leave strange notes in your lunch sack?  Does Dad make up songs when he is shaving, or sing in the shower?  What ever your weirdness, have fun writing.
