Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

My Nose

I smell roses.
I smell the seas.
I smell cookies
and tall pine trees.

With my nose
I snff and sniff.
I think my nose
is a special gift.

Here is today's fun challenge.  Make a list poem of all the stinky, smelly things you wish you did NOT have to smell.  Ask your friends to help, because this list could give you the giggles.  Have fun and share your creations.

  1. Joy,

A wonderful idea for your readers to write about stinky, smelly things. You give terrific prompts. Your sense of humor and love of children shows when you note that this project brings on giggles. I know your children's workshops must be great fun. Keep it up!

  3. Thank you.
I have used this exercise several times with kids. They do seem to find stinky smells much more memorable and fun.
I mean, have you ever giggled at smelling rosebuds? Pickles is the smell that can take me back to being with my dad.
Do you have a smell like that?
    Thanks for the support.
