Navel Oranges

The oranges
on my citrus tree
are big and round,
bright and shiny.

I cut one open,
it tastes delicious.
I wish you were here
to try it with us.

It does seem strange to me that as much of the US braces for a winter of snow, my little orange tree is just coming into its own.  We planted this tree two and a half years ago and it is finally bearing fruit.  Today's poetry challenge is to write a poem about your favorite fruit (or vegetable).

  1. Joy,
I grew a few lemons for a short while. Thanks for sharing your experience with us and for even being willing to share your fruit!

    1. What a lovely metaphor, Linda. Yes, my poems are my fruit. They are also my children.

  2. Dear Joy,
How cool is that? I love it. Enjoy the wonderful flavor of your oranges and the smell of them, too.

    Love, Joan
