Each thirsty night
I am sprinkled
with a soft rain
of words I try
to arrange
in to poems.
What dreams do you have at night? Can you write a list poem about your dreams today? Have fun writing your poem.
Today is the Poetry Friday Round-Up. You can find more poetry on Paul Hankins' blog These 4 Corners. Thanks, Paul, for hosting us today.
Very nice, Joy!
ReplyDeleteHey Matt,
DeleteThank you. I had fun messing with the art to go with this poem.
Congratulations on your inclusion in The Poetry Friday Anthology for CELEBRATIONS. I can hardly wait to read everyone's poems. This should be a great collection.
I think your dreams serve you well in your poetry. Lovely picture, also! =)
ReplyDeleteThank you for encouraging me in my silly art.
DeleteA great image of words sprinkling down on you to satisfy your thirst for poetry content. You are so creative!
ReplyDeleteLinda, thank you. You know how much I like being thought of as clever.
DeleteNice! I like the "thirsty night" and wonder about making more of the challenge of arranging something as liquid as sprinkling raindrops...
ReplyDeleteHeidi, thanks for the suggestion. I know where this poem came from, and when I went back to the book I got the idea from I re-read the whole thing and for the life of me, I couldn't find a poem that would have stimulated this. I guess this is just a case of a poem that wanted to be and I was sitting there to receive it.
DeleteI love this poem. I think it's one of your best. Just lovely. Thanks for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rosi. As you know most of my children's poems are NOT in free verse. But this idea jumped out at me and for some reason I felt free to present it this way. I've been exploring free verse a lot lately. thank you for the compliment.
DeleteOooh, Joy, I love this! I hope I'm blessed with rain tonight. :)
ReplyDeleteMay we all find rain. Messing with words is so much fun.
