Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

FALL HAIKU

Again school begins.
I do not think I'm ready
for vacation's end.

For the cool weather,
apple cider and donuts--
my favorite treat.

The poplar leaves spin
yellow snowflakes in the wind--
leaves shaped like mittens.

My dad rakes the leaves
I help him make a big pile.
Then we run and jump.

Halloween costume
I will wear for trick-or-treat--
Cat, Princess, Rock Star.

Running very fast
I let out string while I fly
my kite in the air.

Happy Sunday.  I hope you have a great day.

  2. I'm with Rosi. Poplar blossoms are known to look like tulips, but focusing on the leaves by comparing to mitten and snowflake images is a perfect way to foreshadow winter.
