I'm Hiding

I'm hiding here
under my bed
pretending I'm
the cat
waiting to be fed.
Won't you please
pet the head
of the cat
who is hiding
under the bed.

Where is your favorite place to hide?  Can you write a poem about hiding or about something you'd like to hide.  Have fun writing.

  1. I think this would be a terrific poetry question for the younger students, Joy. What fun!

  2. Oh, Linda,
Thank you. As a child, one of my favorite things to do was to hide. Didn't you just love playing hide and go seek as a kid? Even Button, Button, is a game about hiding. We all like finding (the discovery) things that are hidden. Isn't I Spy, just about that? I had so much fun looking for your turtle's head in your pictures of the snow. I hope you've brought him inside. what is the turtle's name?

  3. Hi Joy,
Terrific! This poem makes me what to read what comes next. It makes me imagine the conversation between the "cat" and the one who finds her. Delightful. This would make another writing prompt.

I loved the form used here, the verbs, the creativity, the fun! Kids would love this for sure!
