CLOUDS

The clouds are looking dark and gray.
I think it might rain today.
That's the reason the flowers say,
"Hip-hip-hooray.!"

If you were to have a conversation with a flower, what would the flower say?  What kind of flower would you chose to talk to to?  What would the flower tell you about its day?  Have fun talking to the flowers, for hours and hours.  (Sorry, I couldn't control myself.  Now I'm thinking about what my life would be like if I was a bee.)

If I were a bee
and you were the flowers
we'd get together
for hours and hours.

Have fun writing your own poems today.

Laura Purdie Salas is hosting the Friday Poetry Roundup today.  You can find lots more children's poetry on her blog at http://www.laurasalas.com/blog/
Thanks Laura, for a great Friday Poetry Party.

  1. I love poems that look at the other side of things, like ignoring how a lot of people don't like rain and focusing on what LOVES rain. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Laura,
I know you get more rain than you need, but I live in the desert and rain is a big event. When it rains here people go outside to let the raindrops fall on their face. We LOVE the rain. It doesn't happen often around here. We even had one day of 100 degree weather this last week.

  2. This is a sweet one. We had rain yesterday for the first time since, I think, January. It was positively delicious. Thanks for sharing your poem.

  3. I'm not used to hearing you write about rain, Joy, although I've heard you've had a bit. We need rain again, watering the flowers by hand!

    1. Yes, rain is one of the things I miss about not living in NC any more. Have fun at your Highlight's workshop on poetry with David Harrison. I'll miss being there with you.

  5. This post reminds me a whole lot of my own post today, Joy. I think we've been hanging out on a similar wavelength!

    1. Yup, you've got a great post today. It must be the writing faeries in the atmosphere. There are ley lines connecting my poetry to you. The ancestors are wathching and guiding us.
