Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

PLAYING AT THE BEACH

Playing at the beach
with my sand pail
and a wooden boat
that floats with a sail.

Building a castle
all out of sand.
Leaving a hand print
of my little hand.

Watching the sand crabs
run out of reach.
Searching for seashells
all along the beach.

Do you like going to the beach?  What do you do while you are there?  Can you write a poem about that today?

Come play with me.  Write children's poetry.

  1. I like the image of building a castle all out of sand--differs from building a sand castle. Clever!

  2. Loved the structure of the poem with internal rhyme along with the reach-searching-seashells-beach... lots to love here!

    1. Thanks, Donna. I hadn't realized I'd done that, but it is what happens when you write a lot of poetry. But, as a good friend once said, "If you find oil in my backyard, it is still my oil." Thanks for your help in finding the black gold.
