Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

An Acrostic

Thunder,
Hurling rain
Upends
Rainbows,
Silently
Delivers
Awe to
You.

I love writing acrostics, how about you?  Do you like writing acrostics too?  Pick a word and have fun trying to write about it in the acrostic format.  Make the first letter big so someone reading your poem can tell what word you are spelling.  If you get stuck, you can try using a letter from the middle of the word.  I once needed a "Y" word and ended up using canYons.  That looks weird, let's try the word all lower case-- canyons.  Can you link your word to something you are studying?  If you are studying rocks for geology try granite, or gneiss.  If you are studying animals and their habitat, pick an animal and use the acrostic to tell about the habitat or food the animal eats.  If you are studying math, you are on your own.  Have fun writing an acrostic today.

May your day be filled with bright expectations.
