Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

Still Singing

Let's sing a song
wherever we go.
You sing high
and
     I'll
         sing
               low.

If you can not
come sing with me
I'll still try
to
   sing
         on
             key.

We'll travel far
and on our way
I hope you have
a
   happy
             Sunday.

Can you write a poem that includes a day of the week?  Or try writing seven poems, one for each day.  Have fun or make this a day of rest.  What ever you do enjoy poetry.

  1. Joy,
This is a rough draft poem you inspired:

    Call Out Your Order

    Order your days--
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
    Order your numbers--
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.
    Order your letters--
    ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOP...
    Please forgive me
    I almost forgot my manners.
Would you like to add a line?
    Call out your order
    Any time...
