Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

Sweet L

I like licorice
and lemon tarts.
I like licking lollipops
shaped in red hearts.
I love the tingle
on my lips
from eating lime-flavored
potato chips.
How about you?
What's the 'l'
you like to do?

I need a break from the bestiary, so I turned to foods.  I'll still get to an "L" animal poem, but my mind wants to think about it a little.  I think there are too many "L" animals--lions, leopards, lizards, loons.  What other animals can you think of with the letter "l" in their name?  Wolf, Owl, Caterpillar, or Angel fish?  If two of the animals had a conversation, what would they say?  Can you write a poem about it?

A break in routine is good for creativity.

  3. Hi Joy,

You're welcome for the support. Thanks for asking what I'm going to break my routine. I'm reading some special art books: The Art of Eric Carle,...I never saw another butterfly... (Terezin Concentration Camp), and Art Museum Opposites. These are not my typical reads. It's good to stretch ourselves.
