OFF TO BED

It is  time for bed.
I don't want to go.
I want to watch
this TV show.

Mom says,
"It's late.
You know the rule.
It's past 9 now,
tomorrow there's school."

So off I march
to my bed
and dream my program
in my head.

Then tomorrow
when I'm at school,
I'll tell friends
my dreams are cool.

What time do you go to bed?  Would you like to write a poem today about your bed time or your morning routine?  Have fun.

  1. Joy,
The child's program in her dreams won't match the one viewed by those whose parents let them stay up late. This could bring about some puzzled looks if the child who dreams states it as if it really happened. Fun to think about. See where your poems take us!

  2. This actually came from listening to my son in the car while driving home from school. He'd listen to the kids talk about a tv show all day and then on the carpool drive home he could converse as if he'd seen the show himself.
I do remember going to a school open house and the children had written paragraphs about their favorite TV shows. While all the other children had written about Ninja Turtles and the popular cartoon shows, my Jacob had written that his favorite TV show was The Woodwright's Shop, a PBS show on wood working.
