Tuesday Morning--Writing

This morning as I sit here
my paper and pen idle
on the table.
I watch out my window.
See two rabbits
leaping over one another,
jumping, darting
around the creosote bush
happily dashing into each other
and I pick up my pen to
dash and leap
writing a poem for today.

What do you see when you look out your window?  Can you write a poem about that today?

  1. Nature Visit
    by Joan Y. Edwards

A good idea to keep pen and paper by the windowpane.
It helps to keep one from going insane.

Nature runs from place to place
    In a little squirrel's face.

The grass is brown from winter's cold.
No seed or fertilizer has been sold.

Birds visit bird feeders for food to eat.
They whistle tunes so I can keep the beat.

When you interact with nature dawn,
You'll go to sleep in the hammock after you yawn.

I enjoy your poems. Celebrate your love and skill with poetry! Never Give Up

    1. Happy Birthday Joan,
This is a lovely beginning. Thank you for sharing your poem with us. I wonder what you'd end up with if you tried rhyming eat with sweet?

      When you write poems
      from nature drawn
      you'll have material
      dawn to dawn.

Oh yes, let's celebrate. Time for a party. Let me put on my party hat and see what I come up with.

    2. I love to party. I'm glad you liked my poem.

      There's no telling
      I wanted something to eat.
      Joy handed me something sweet.
      Terrance gave me something sour.
Then I went and took a shower.

  2. I like the vision of you 'dashing and leaping' for a poem, Joy. Wonderful capture!

    1. Yes, sometimes that pen just trudges and sometimes it flies. Maybe I need to write an ode to my pen.

  3. Joy,
I enjoyed that the pen dashes and leaps.

    1. Linda,
You've got me considering a list poem of all the things I write with. I once made a big sheet cake and lots of tube icing so the kids could practice writing on the cake. There really weren't any mistakes because we got to eat the cake when we were done.
