The wind is blowing
a hot dry wind.
The creosote bush
buckles and bends.
Mesquite leaves
flutter fast
as the wind rushes,
bustling past.
The birds are roosting
in the Saguaro
maybe it will be
cooler tomorrow.

We're supposed to be hotter later in the week, but right now it's actually chilly! Colorado weather is so rarely consistent, Joy! I like that you included so much of your habitat in your poem!
ReplyDeleteHaving just been in Arizona, I can picture all of this.
ReplyDeleteFeels like I'm there, I can picture it so well!
