This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

A bluebird flew
to the top
of tall pine trees
and sang
his warbling
song for me.
He sings
in the morning.
He sings
at noon.
He makes
me happy
with his bluebird tune.

I had fun playing with art again yesterday, so I had to write a poem to go with my picture.  A poem that is written in response to another piece of art is called an ekphrastic.  Can you write your own ekphrastic poem today?

  1. Joy,

Perhaps your newspaper bluebird is carrying joyful news everywhere he travels. If so, I hope you create a whole flock just like this one and set them free.
