What do I see?
I've hatched my egg.
A little me.
He may not be
a perfect match.
I'll always love him
My Little Hatch.
A mama bird creates little hatchlings. I created a picture to go with this poem. What is something you have created? A fort, cookies, a card for a friend? Can you write a poem today about something you have created?
I can create many things. It just takes time and patience.
This is darling, Joy. You hardly even need the second stanza– the first one packs a nice punch all on its own!
ReplyDeleteMichelle,
DeleteThank you for your comment. I really appreciate your insight. I may well drop the second stanza.
This is adorable, Joy! Love these lines: "I've hatched my egg / A little me." And your illustration is the perfect companion to the poem.
ReplyDeleteThanks,Violet. Actually the illustration came first. I'm taking a watercolor class at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum and this was a piece I did to practice washes. I want to get better at rt so I can illustrate more of my poems.
DeleteThis is positively adorable -- both the poem and the picture. This is one of your very best. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh Rosi, I love you to pieces. Thank you.
DeleteSweet!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteJoy,
ReplyDeleteI think Michelle's right. I like it all on its own. The drawing is darling! It looks professional to me! Fun too!
Thanks, Linda. I haven't made up my mind yet. I wasn't sure if that "a little me," didn't sound too egotistical. I thought this could be used with a discussion on how babies, puppies, kittens, kids and colts all look like their parents. A seal can't give birth to a baby duck.
DeleteI am having fun in my art classes.
Thank you. Thank you. And double that.
