Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

SPRING

Last night
when I went to bed
I could still
smell the fragrance
of flowers I'd
put in a vase
on my dresser,
the sweet yellow
trumpets of daffodils.

What is your favorite flower? Daffodils speak to me of happiness, joy and laughter.  They are Springtime. Can you write a poem about a flower today?  Have fun writing.

The cow's favorite flower is a buttercup.  What flower does a cow wear?  A cowslip.

  2. CARNATIONS

    When I awoke
    this morning,
    I tiptoed
    into the kitchen,
    where sleepy pink buds
    cradled in baby’s breath
    gently roused
    (in their teeny glass bed)
    broke into a smile and
    w h i s p e r e d
    my name
