1,000 blog posts

Softly,
listen to the quiet.
Gently,
listen to the still.
Can you hear
the heartbeat?
Can you feel
the miracle?
Open yourself
to joy.
Open yourself
to love.
Live the life
you are meant to live.
Be the answer
to another's question.

Today has been a difficult day for me with my writing.  I've written everything else but today's poem and I even know the reason--nothing was good enough.  Today marks the 1,000th post on this blog.  I've posted a poem every day for then last 1,000 days.  I've explored all sorts of poetry forms from acrostics to villanelles with you.  I supplied original art work or photographs to go with some of the poems.  And on most days, I've supplied a poetry prompt to go with the poems.  You have responded positively and I have had over 105,000 visitors to my blog.  You are the miracle that keeps me writing.  Thank you.
I was reading a comment from YA author Angela Morrison today and she stated, "Readers are miracles...."  YES!  You are a miracle to me.  I hope you have a fantastic New Year's Eve.
Thank you for being here to cheer me on.

  2. I don't get to them all, Joy, but most. Congratulations to you for the 1000th post. That is really an accomplishment! Just think of all the words, the thoughts-good brain food, right? Happy New Year to you and your husband! Hope Hawaii was perfect!

    1. Happy New Year, Linda. Hawaii was lovely. Saw my son. And yes, I got lots of brain food from the trip.
But I think I need to diet to lose a few pounds.

  3. Kudos to you, Joy, for such poetic abundance. When are we going to see a chapbook or poetry collection? Seems like you have more than enough great material!

    1. Soon, Linda, soon. I'm working on it, but life keeps getting in the way! But the one habit I've gotten into that I haven't given up on yet, is writing at least one poem a day. Now all I need to do is polish, polish, polish.

  4. Wow, 1000 posts, 1000 poems? Congratulations, Joy - that's quite an accomplishment. (I wish I had the time to do the same!) I don't get to read them all, but I try - and this is really nice! I hope you & the hubby have a great 2014, and keep in touch!

    1. Hey Matt,
I've been thinking about your problem writing and the way to do it is to start on day at a time. Go for a couplet a day, or an acrostic a day. I have several friends who write a haiku a day. Just try it and you'll see that your skill improves and the poems will start stacking up. You've got lots of great material with the little ones. But, what ever you do, don't beat yourself up. That is the fastest way I know to quit.

  5. 1000 posts and 105,000 visitors! Fabulous, Joy! Your talk of miracles reminded me of a Christmas gift from my husband--a silver ornament inscribed, "Faith brings miracles." Another great line lies in your poem."Be the answer to another's question." Beautiful!

    Linda A.

    1. Linda, you must send me a picture of that ornament. It sounds like the perfect sentiment to keep one going. I've been praying for a miracle lately. Maybe I need to go out and buy a lottery ticket--just one. Thanks for being wonderful you.
