LIZARDS

One alligator lizard
resting in the sun
wonders where the others are
off having fun.

Two collard lizards
climbing on the wall
with long thin fingers
they don't fall.

Three whipped tail lizards
race around the mesquite tree
chasing each other's tail
they entertain me.

Four striped lizards
dash over rocks
find one to hide beneath
away from circling hawks.

  1. Sounds like the beginning of a desert picture book! Good luck.

    1. Thanks Linda. You've got my brain spinning again. What if all the lizards all gathered for a picnic or jamboree? There has to be games, like a sack race or egg and spoon dash so each lizard can show off his special skills. Perhaps there needs to be fly catching or a picnic baseball game. Would that entertain?
