Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

LISTEN

Listen
pitter-patter
falling rain.

Listen

pitter-patter
giggles
from fairies.

Listen

pitter-patter
footsteps
getting shoes wet
in dewy grass
as fairies dance
in the rain.

We have been having more rain at night and first thing in the morning.  I look out my window and I see fog covering the mountain and I become fanciful.  What sorts of things make you fanciful?  Can you try writing a poem about a fanciful thing today?  Have fun writing.

    1. Thanks, Mary Lee. I really had fun building this poem. I took so much out. I'm still not sure that last stanza needs every word in it.

Glad you are home. Thank you for all your help. Fairies are fun to play with, aren't they?
