Snail and Pine Cone

A snail was sliming
on the walk
leaving a silver thread.
He bumped into a creature
who would not talk.
The creature acted dead.

"Hello," said the snail.
"I'm in a groove,
it would help me,
if you'd move."

But the creature wouldn't move.
He wouldn't budge.
So the snail gave him
a little nudge.

"What's your problem?
You won't move.  WHY?
All I know,
is you're one
prickly guy."

Have you ever met someone you wanted to steer clear of?  Someone you thought was going to hurt you?  But when you got to know the person they were really quite nice?  Or, maybe it is just someone having a bad day?  What did snail learn from the pine cone?  Many times it is best to just walk away from prickly situations.  Sometimes it is the only way you can help.  Can you try writing a poem today about one of your own prickly situations?  Have fun writing.

  1. How rude! Not moving. Sometimes that's when we have to find another way to get where we're going!

Love you. Glad you had the wonderful opportunity to visit Norway!

    1. Thanks, Joan.
Now if I can just shake this lousy airplane cold. I'm drinking my ginger lemon tea, taking Vitamin C,--I'm still hacking. I'm giving this a week and if I'm not better, I'm giving this thing a new name.
Here is to all those prickly people in the world we have to learn how to live with.
Norway was awesome and I can understand how there are all these troll stories now, when you see the sun shining at 3 AM, you can't help but be fanciful.

  2. I hope the snail can teach the pinecone a lesson or two. This one was fun and I loved the snail's expression.
