Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

FLIP FLOPS

I like my flip flops.
I think they are neat.
They flip and they flop
to an up-tempo beat.

But some days they
are so very slow.
What could be wrong?
I do not know.

The rhythm is lazy
so I take a seat.
I laugh because
I put them
on the wrong feet.

Happy Saturday.  I've written several poems about shoes.  How about you?  Can you write a poem about shoes today?  Have you ever put your shoes on the wrong feet?  How did it feel?  Do you like getting new shoes?  Have shoes ever worn blisters on your feet?  What if you were an elephant who wanted red pumps?  Or a mermaid who has always wanted to wear shoes?  Have fun writing your poem.
