THE BAT
A bat flew
searching one night
found my pool
to his delight.
And in his flight
he took a dip
from my pool
he took a sip.
He got stuck
but what is worse
we had to call
the bat-man hearse.
This morning when I went out to the pool to swim morning laps, I found a dead bat. A golden beetle was attached to him. I always feel a little sad when I find dead animals in the pool. What is something that makes you feel sad? Can you write a poem about that today. Hey, writing always cheers me up. I hope it works for you too. Have a great Thursday.

I LOVE IT. Ily. Cloey
ReplyDeleteHa, funny!
ReplyDeleteDear Joy,
ReplyDeleteHow sad! It's a bummer.
One day when I was ten years old I was sitting in our den with my older sister beside me watching TV.
A bat flew by.
I said, "Look. A bat flew by."
"No, no, no," said my sister. "There are no bats in here."
"Okay," I said. "If you insist, there are no bats in here."
A few minutes later, the bat flew by again. This time it flew close to my sister's nose.
"Eek," she said and jumped in my lap. "A bat flew by."
He had flown down the chimney in the living room. Luckily we got it outside. It was funny.
Celebrate you and your love of poetry.
Joy,
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the dead bat. I loved your line about the bat-man hearse. It brought a snicker.
