Welcome
This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

LITTLE MINNOWS*
Little minnows swim
with a tail swish
going round and round
in their minnow dish.
Their tiny fins flap
to and fro
making those minnows
go, go, go.
This is another poem based on movement. Can you count the number of words in each line? Can you write your own poem that uses movement for it's inspiration? Have fun writing.
* Heidi, this poem is for you.

Cute poem, Joy! I love poetry that has movement!
ReplyDeleteJoy,
ReplyDeleteThis poem reminded me of "The Little Turtle" by Vachel Lindsay..."There was a little turtle. He lived in a box...
Your lastest emphasis on movement in poetry has been good for me and my writing. I am revising a picture book manuscript and I'm sure your influence is helping! Thank you!
Gosh, you're welcome Linda. But it is all your doing, I'm sure.
Deleteby focusing on movement, it does help to have good verbs. The two go together maing for fun writing and reading.
Very cute!
