This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

First Day of School
I have paper and pencils and new crayons too. I have a new backpack. It's color is blue. I have a new notebook that I think is cool. I think I am ready for the first day of school.
This is super, Joy, and really captures the excitement of going back to school! Thanks for sharing it. You continue to inspire me with your daily poetry writing! = )
Thanks Becky. Sometimes I surprise myself too. I didn't realize I had written two poems about roasting marshmallows in less than one week. I've got to do better, but I think it is like playing the piano, as long as I practice everyday, I should get better eventually.
Yah, Linda. I always enjoyed picking out a new lunchbox. I want the one that is different from everyone else's. I once went to a dance with a guy who didn't want to dance until there were several couples on the dance floor and we could just blend in--he didn't last past that date. Either you want to dance or you want to sit back and watch the party go by, me--I want to dance.

DeleteEven as a teacher, my most fun is choosing new materials. You've said it just right, Joy!

Hi Joy,
ReplyDeletePleasant memories stirred with this one!
Glad it stirred pleasant memories, Linda. I'm smelling the stale lunch box smell that I could never get out. Smells really are a trigger for me.
DeleteBuses have their own unique smell too.
