BANANA SMILES

copyright 2014, Joy Acey

If I were a banana
here's what I would do,
I'd lay on my side
to smile at you.

I'm being silly today and playing with my food.  Can you write a silly poem today?  Have fun.

  1. Cute. What a great prompt for kids to think about writing poetry.

  2. Joy,
I love your playfulness with food poetry. Hope to see a published collection in your future.

  3. I don't know, Rosi. I looked at my banana this morning and it looked like I'd drawn a row boat or a pea pod on the thing. Now you know how the Owl and the Pussycat ended up in a pea green boat. Thanks for your comment.
Yup, somedays I think we should all be allowed to be silly.

  4. Cute, Joy! If I were a carrot I'd dance above those eyes.

  5. Thanks for stopping by Catherine. And yes, you did correctly identify the baby carrots for eyebrows. Now let's see:

    If I were two cherries
    Here's what I'd do
    I'd twinkle and wink
    just for you.

So what do you think? Maybe I need to write a whole collection of fruit and vegetables as art poems--of course then I'd want Debbi Ohi to do the illustrations. Her re-claimed art doodles are so much fun. Are you familiar with her work?
