Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

Summertime

Staying inside
where it's nice and cool
or hanging out
at the swimming pool.

Lying in the hammock
with a book to read,
it's summertime,
this is all I need.

What is your favorite thing to during the summer.  Do you go camping, fishing or jet skiing?
Do you eat corn on the cob or watermelon? Can you write a poem about what you like to do in summertime?  Have fun writing.

Linda Kulp over at Write Time is hosting the Poetry Friday roundup today. You can mosey on over there for more children's poetry fun.  Thank you, Linda, for hosting us today.

  1. Ah, I would like some of all of these this summer. So far, all I've gotten is the a/c, which I do appreciate (though little time to relax in it). I'm putting swimming pool and hammock time on my must-do-this-summer list. Thanks, Joy!

  2. We're off to the beach next week, Joy, but summertime joy to me is hanging out without a deadline, playing, playing in the garden, sitting outside & reading. I like your brief description of 'all you need'!

    1. Carol, Thanks for pointing me in the direction of your blog. I'll see if I can find a picture that fits the poem or draw one of my own.

  7. Ahhh - this poem makes me sigh. We've managed a couple of day trips to the beach. (I LOVE that it's only 20 minutes away now!)
Summertime hugs from this side of the country... :0)
