Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

ALWAYS TALKING

Jibber-Jabber
Yack, yack, yack.
You talk, talk, talk
and then sass back.

You'll never learn
when your mouth's on flow.
If you'd stop to listen
then you'd know.

Can you find some time to sit in silence today?  What can you learn in your moments?  Can you write a poem about what you heard?  What you learned?

Poetry is music written for the human voice.  Maya Angelou

  1. Unfortunately, my mouth is sometimes on flow. True confession.

    1. I did like that phrase, mouth on flow. I have a cousin who is a chatterbox, and my mom used to say she was born with a record needle for a tongue. Some of those old phrases are priceless.

  2. Just went to The Music Man last night and this poem reminds me of the song "Pick a little, talk a little, pick a little, talk a little,
Cheep cheep cheep, talk a lot, pick a little more..."!

    1. Oh, I hadn't thought about that, Donna. But you are right. My brain must have been channeling Music Man.
