Welcome
This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

BLACK BEETLE
Black beetle, black beetle
crossing the road.
Black beetle, black beetle
carries a load.
Black beetle, black beetle
where do you roam?
Black beetle, black beetle
are your babies at home?
Black beetle, black beetle
crossing the road.
Can you guess what I saw on my morning walk? This poem can be performed or read as a poem for two voices with students saying the repetitive line "Black beetle, black beetle," and the teacher or five individuals saying the second line of each stanza. Writing poems with a repetitive line is fun because the poems can easily be performed by groups. Can you try writing a poem with a repetitive line today? Have fun writing.

Joy,
ReplyDeleteYou make it look so easy. I love how you are inspired by what you meet on your walk.
Oh, Linda, it takes practice and it gets easier the more you practice.
ReplyDeleteI've got to get poems from somewhere, so I look for ideas everywhere.
Thank you for reading my poetry. I REALLY, REALLY appreciate it.
Hey Linda, I just discovered and corrected a typo in this poem. I guess I need more practice.
