There are words
floating in the air.
You can't see them,
but they are there.
I grab them,
one, two, a few.
Rub them together
see what they do.
Do they fit together?
Make a fun pair?
Do sparks fly off?
Do the embers flare?
Then I write a poem,
it's what I do.
The words are waiting,
there's plenty for you,
too.
Where are your favorite places to look for words for your poems? Can you write a poem about that today? Have fun.
Hi Joy,
ReplyDeleteYou find words that bring joy, spark creativity, and spur others to try it too. Go Joy! We love you!
Yes, Linda. The words are there waiting for you. They feel proud and get puffed up when they are put to use, but if no one picks them up to use them, the poor little words shrivel up and die.
DeleteLove the idea of 'rub them together/see what they do" - really fun poem, Joy!
ReplyDeleteIsn't this the way a lot of poems start, by rubbing two words together?
