Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

Barlow the Buffalo

Barlow the buffalo
blew a big bubble of gum.
He balanced the blob
of it on his bum.

This poem uses consonance, the repetition of a single consonant.  I count 11 "b"s in this little quatrain.
Can you pick another consonant, perhaps one from your own name, and write your own poem?

  1. Fun! This poem may introduce readers to a new vocabulary word (bum). Perhaps they could start with a word of the day and go from there. Endless ways to springboard from your model.

    Thanks for sharing your creativity!
