Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

MONSTER FRED

My monster Fred
has a clipboard
for his head.

He jots down
memories
makes lists, doodles,
draws figures and rings,
because his brain
is not too good
for remembering things.

I enjoy writing monster poems.  I have fun mixing things up to make a monster.
Can you make your own monster poem today?  Close your eyes, turn your head.  Now open your eyes.  What is the first thing you see?  Can you make that part of your monster?  Have fun writing a monster poem.

  1. Joy,
I love the head image this brings. Monster poems are silly and fun.

  2. Linda, this one came because I was reading articles on plagiarism, and the difficulty with children (and adults) copying other's work. I got to thinking when I do my monster exercises, the kids have to be original in their writing because they are always original in their creation of a monster.
