Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

SUN

(original art by Joy Acey, 2013 all rights reserved)

This is another of the spine poems.  I played with the idea of having you read the poem right to left, so the poem would end in the traditional west side of the paper, but it was really hard to read that way.

If you have trouble reading this, here it is in a traditional vertical mode.

Sun
rises
in the
east
starts
a new
day
UP
Rise Up
come
out
play
when
it's
time
to rest
sun
sets
in the
west

Now it is your turn, can you write your own poem about the sun, or play?  I hope you have as much fun writing poems as I do.  Enjoy.

  2. Joy,
Another lovely one. I especially like the use of "rise" and "rest." Well done. Everyone is embracing the day and each other.

    1. Thanks Linda, I had a fun time figuring out how to get that globe with a semi accurate rendition of land masses on it,
