REVERSO

In the bathroom
where humidity rises
blooms
the orchid
in a flourish
again.

Again
in a flourish
the orchid
blooms
where humidity rises
in the bathroom.

This reverso poem reads well no matter which direction you want to read it in.  Which way do you like better?
My husband likes to grow orchids and he has had amazing success with getting the flowers to bloom again this year.  This plant has half a dozen blooms on it and the stalk has another half dozen buds to bloom later.  This dear plant gives us so much happiness, I had to make it the topic for my poem for David L. Harrison's word of the month challenge.
For your challenge for today, can you try writing your own reverso poem, one that reads well from top to bottom and from bottom to top?  Have fun experimenting with this form.

  1. Hi, Joy, and thank you for the delightful poem. I hope others will follow with their own Reverso efforts.

    1. Thanks, David for stopping by. Do you still uses the three ice cube method of watering your orchids? How is that working?
You word of the month WOM challenges are a lot of fun. I hope more people stop by your blog www.davidlharrison.wordpress.com and leave "flourish" poems this month.

  2. Love the 'reverso flourish', Joy. They are not easy to do. And I admire your husband with the orchids. I don't have much luck here, but always thought it was low humidity, & now you're telling me he's getting wonderful blooms in Arizona!

    1. The humidity is higher in the bathroom. When we were in NC he used to put his orchids out under a tree in the summer because it is really humid there. The plant now has 12 blooms on it and more to come.

  3. I'm not a big fan of this form, but this one is really well done. I like it.

    1. I'm with you, Rosi. It is really hard to get layers of meaning in the poem when your are concentrating on the up and down of this form. Thank you.
